Well, as luck-or better yet-fate would have it, the weather seems to the deciding factor if the Taxing Metric will even be held this year. With showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday, it seems Mother Nature took it upon herself to make sure I wasn’t going to start, let alone finish, the 2008 Taxing Metric.
No problem.
I actually was looking forward to riding it this year-more to exorcise my demons rather than anything else. Sure, the climbs are still brutally tough. Considering there’s over a mile of elevation change, I still think I would have been able to finish it. Heck, I rode the same route last year; legs cramping and all, and still managed to finish the 66 miles.
So, now what?
Well, for starters, there’s the Iron Tour, The Chester County Challenge, The SCU Quad County, The Savage Century, Dog Daze, etc.. I’m not sure if I will be riding all of these, but there’s a good chance I will be riding most of them this season. That means, while I dodged the bullet of the Taxing Metric, the gun is still loaded and the hammer is about to drop on these other rides.
More to come…
